Just learnt a new law was passed across in Sharjah last week... stated that no construction work is allow to go beyond 5pm. This law is not meant during the Ramadan period, but it a "permanent" law. Because, apparently some people are complaining that ongoing construction over that time is disturbing and creating unnecessary inconvenient. That why the law was implemented.
Well... the construction is booming now in Sharjah, almost every corner you turn to, you will see new construction are ongoing. This is suppose to compliment the demand due to the influx of expat and housing "shortage" in the neighboring state, Dubai.
With this curfew, the impacts fall hard on the main contractor. Imagine, in the past, work may carry on till 8-9pm, due to the very tight schedule (& budget). But now, with this new law, they may have to increase manpower to operate in order to achieve the similar delivery timeline. And now, not sure how "easy" would it be to employ people when market is booming. Potential employee may demand for more and employer have to really filter out the good & skilled one.
Tough life ahead for these property contractor:)
